How it all began
Our journey began on the first day of college at the University of Pittsburgh over 10 years ago. One of Kyle’s new friends called out to the crowd at a freshman event and Gabby happened to respond. We bonded over silly pet names and played Kan Jam, where Gabby hit the game-winning slot and Kyle suggested she try out for the frisbee team. Thankfully she took his advice.
The next four years flew by as we grew alongside one another. We helped each other move from one South Oakland home to the next, including a memorable moment when Gabby’s stepdad Joe and Kyle clung to Gabby’s mattress atop her car. Our relationship strengthened as Kyle spent countless all-nighters with Gabby in her architecture studio, and she supported him while he studied for nursing exams. Together, we created lasting friendships and discovered our individual identities, all while sharing a love for ultimate frisbee, the outdoors, and making elaborate homemade Halloween costumes. In April 2018, we celebrated our graduation and soon moved into our first home together.
Our time in Pittsburgh included two more moves, countless domestic and international trips, coffee and brewery dates, and frisbee events. Gabby discovered her passion for nonprofit work and interior design, while Kyle spent three years in graduate school to become a Nurse Anesthetist. We embraced new communities at the gym, work, and school, and proudly became plant parents to many “plant babies.” These experiences brought us closer and led us to realize we were ready for a change in Colorado, where Kyle received a job offer.
The day after Kyle graduated from CRNA school on December 16, 2023, he organized a special trip to Phipps Botanical Gardens—the site of one of our first dates. Surrounded by our families, Kyle got down on one knee and asked Gabby to marry him, and she happily said yes. Moments later, our closest friends surprised Gabby by joining the celebration, which ended up being the perfect way to close out our time in Pittsburgh.
Since moving across the country in February 2024, we’ve embraced new adventures, faced challenges, and built friendships—all while planning our mountain wedding. It has been a mix of excitement and nostalgia as we miss our families and friends back east, but have also enjoyed the new opportunities that Denver has brought us.
This next chapter of marriage has been a decade in the making, filled with growth and unwavering support. As we embark on this new adventure together, we can’t wait to celebrate our special day with all of you.
